May is the national designated month to celebrate Asian Pacific Islander heritage. Although, for me and millions of others, we celebrate our roots everyday. If you have the ability to visit some local sites in Los Angeles I recommend you visit the Japanese American Museum, The Filipino American Library, Little Tokyo, Chinatown or Historic Filipinotown.
Now is an excellent time to sit down with family and friends and document your family tree or document your familys journey to America. Take photos of family and friends and start a scrapbook. Document family traditions and rituals, like holidays, religious events or secret family recipies. I promise you that you will be glad that you did!
Enjoy and celebrate the richness and beauty of your culture!
