If you have ever wanted to know more about Asian culture this month is a good reason to educate yourself!
www.oneamerica.net is a great resource for school and corporations to purchase education tools for their students and staff. The products they offer can make cultural diversity fun!
All month long I will be posting topics to celebrate Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
This year national theme “Pursuing Excellance through Leadership, Diversity and Unity” is shown in the poster above which is available at www.oneamerica.net. Below is information about the artist.
Jui Ishida was born in Taiwan and grew up in Yamaguchi, Japan. She studied art and illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA and graduated with honors of distinction in Illustration.
This year’s national theme “Pursuing Excellence through Leadership, Diversity and Unity†is depicted here by the colorful people holding hands representing diversity and unity, and a big tree in the center which represents the result of working together. Some national flowers (cherry blossom and chrysanthemum- Japan, plum blossom – China, Orchid – Honduras, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Brazil, lotus – India, hibiscus – Malaysia) and other symbolic Asian elements (Indian elephant as an epitome of strength, butterfly as a symbol of change, transformation, love and joy, sparrow as a symbol of freedom and humility) were also depicted here to complete the image.Â
